A month into ownership and the weirdness has begun.

The side steps have decided not to deploy if the car has been left unlocked for a few minutes. 2016 Autobiography SDV8 if relevant.

Ahh, it'll be the fuse then. In the boot and pull fuse 39, 30 amp and all good. Re-insert fuse. Open door and the b-stard steps are working again!

Any ideas chums?

A very common problem with an easy answer. Give them a good clean and then grease them up I use white lithium grease they need loads so do at least two or three times with them out and in. When I'm not using the car much I turn them off.

Thank you.

How do you turn them off?

Apologies for the idiotic questions.

On mine, there's a button by the drivers right knee - hold that in when starting the ignition. Same procedure toggles them back on again.

smile not just that - prepare to be amazed at the multi-function switch..... if you press start, leave it in Park and press the step switch within 3 seconds - voila - roof access mode. The steps stay out until the car is locked or you exceed 5mph - even with the ignition off.

But not just that - there is more magic - if you're in a mode that inhibits the steps deploying - like mud & sand - then holding the switch for 3 seconds puts the step function back on.

LR have thought of everything rofl

Might not be stop/start - some of the earlier models had a second battery too (mine does)
