Where are all the Avon Rangemasters?

hanks - there are a number of different alternatives I've identified.
In an ideal world I'd just buy two Rangemasters to match the good ones I already have ...
What date code is on the ones you already have? In an ideal world I'd just buy two Rangemasters to match the good ones I already have ...
They suit older Land-Rovers being tall and slim, are they for a coil-sprung 'Rover?

It's for an older Series 3 Land Rover.

Have you tried Vintage Tyres? They can normally supply period correct tyres for just about any vehicle.
Yes I have. They have no stock, and were the ones to tell me they're currently out of production.Originally Avon were due to do a production run "start of October" but that has now changed to "start of November" with a low confidence that it will actually happen.
Hence me wanting to try and find someone with stock ...

I went with a new set of General Super All Grips, made a fair improvement to how it drove.
They are my fallback option, but I don't really want to buy 5 tyres if I only need two. Oh, and improvement in the way they drive is all relative. They start at quite a low level.
Still no tyres available.
"Start of November" became "start of December" which has just become "probably not for a long time because they're closing the Melksham factory where they are manufactured at the end of the year".
It seems there will not be any produced until the moulds are moved to a new site and Avon/Cooper/Goodyear decide to do a run.

I think it's extremely unlikely that they will do that. The moulds and stuff are almost certainly out of the dark ages and not economical in any shape or form to relocate and get back in production!
Isn't that the kind of niche that Vintage Tyres like to step into, mature products that the makers of have lost interest in due to vanishing margins?Gassing Station | Land Rover | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
