Some time ago we almost pulled the trigger on a 2.0d disco sport, now I feel we somewhat dodged a bullet there with the widely know issues. Well it’s time to look at other vehicles again…question is…does the Velar surfer in the same way? DPF and EGR issues, general build quality.

I’d presume stretched chains are common being the same engine. Is there preventative maintenance that can mitigate that?

Generally more regular oil changes should keep them happy.

21,000 mile oil change intervals is crazy.
My freeby 2 with the 2.2 SD4 engine is claimed to be 16,000 mile intervals, I think it’s got an oil condition sensor as it’s never went 16k before asking for a service.
My disco 3 with the 2.7 tdv6 is 12.5k. I did a service every 10k and it’s still happy with over 200k on it.

Personally. 10k intervals for services. Give it a good motorway run every so often for the dpf to get a decent regen.

For all the posts about issues.
How many are running perfectly fine?

The OH will get a 2.0 disco sport in a few years.
I’ll get it serviced at the same specialist I use for the freeby but I’ll also be doing my own oil changes every 10k max with a vacuum pump.
