I went from the South to Leeds yesterday and the Nav took me up the A1, which was a pain because there are roadworks.

I have tried to program it to use the M1 for the same route tomorrow, but try as I might it's having none of it. I think because it adds 10m to the route.

The only way I can think of to get round it is Google a landmark on the M1 near the required junction and set that as a waypoint. It's not a very elegant solution though.

Any pointers please?

When you enter a destination it should offer you 3 route options. The first is the quickest based on up to date traffic info. If you select that one it may re route you if conditions change. The other two are route options and if there is an A road and a Motorway going in the same direction is should offer you both.

I guess the other option, if that doesn't work is to set Newport Pagnell services as a waypoint.

Having said all of that the M1 is signposted from all over London. Just ignore the nav until you're headed north on the M1 and it will re route itself.

What I did was find the M1 exit I needed on the map and ignored sat nav until I had taken it. It was quicker than using the recommended route last time.

It made me an hour early, so I went to the services at J45. I now understand why the North has an obesity and life expectancy problem. It was impossible to find a healthy lunch option in the entire services.
