Hi,

I have a 1988 Rangey BobTail offroader, which needs some help.

I am looking for someone/somewhere who can rebuild the 3.5v8 in the vehicle.

When I bought the vehicle, although running, the crank was knackered, so in all my wisdom decided to change the whole engine, rarther than strip and fix the crank. After fitting the engine and many months passing trying to get it running myself I gave up and sent it to an LPG specialist (did I mention it runs LPG only - no petrol system at all). After a few weeks the guys at the garage have pronounced the top end of this engine no good, apparently low compresion on most of the cylinders.
So my issue us that I need to find someone who can rebuild it for me as I do not have the time. I am based in Milton Keynes, but can get the vehicle trailered/towed a reasonable distance.

Any help greatly appreciated.

Chris

How about the V8 centre in High Wycombe? - top guys. www.thev8centre.com.

Also try Graham Goodyer, an excellent independent LR specialist who does all my servicing and many of my friends too - Coleshill, near Amersham - 01494 431367

Thanks for the tips guys.... Have managed to find a nice low mileage 3.5 yesterday, from a smashed up Range Rover so am replacing rather than rebuilding now.. Cheers all the same.

Now where did I put that engine crane ??

Low mileage 3.5 from a range Rover! Hmmmmm the last time the put a 3.5 in a rangie was 1989 so 160000 would be average milage. be careful what you buy as low mileage!
