in that although they both cleared the same obstacles, the Range Rover suffered some damage and the Series one did not. I managed to pull the back box and tail pipe off the exhaust on the 4.6  .....

Now, looking on the positive side, methinks this is a good opportunity to get a new exhaust system for the 4.6, and I was thinking something a littly sportier with a good bark to it that befits the Rover V8 lump - perhaps remove the cats as well?

Any suggestions please on exhausts, and has anyone taken the cats off a 4.6 with good results? I've heard that the engine actually runs cooler??

Ahh, now this conundrum quite often rears it's head in my local. (Sometimes, though, it's just me mumbling to myself!)
When I'm doing a bit of greenlaning I sometimes think that it'd be nice to have a TDi 90 with huge mud pluggas, a four inch lift, lockers etc etc...

But then I think of the journey as a whole and the thought of doing a long motorway trip in a rattly, draughty, leaky (but extremely capable) wagon instead of wafting along in comfort in my Range Rover, reminds me I've made the right choice.

Sure, that 80" might be better at negotiating one obstacle, but when playtime has finished I'll be back home before the chap in the old timer has found his earplugs!
