Quick update with what's been going on with my car, which is a 2016 L405 SDV8 on approx 90,000 miles
Engine has recently started to give the impression that it is revving a bit more than usual in lower gears.
Had the new sump kit and fresh oil fitted two weeks ago but it did not have a full flush through.
Technician said the old oil was very dark but there was very little sludge in the sump, nor metal shavings on the magnet.
Still seems to be revving more than usual but there is a slight improvement since the service.
I do find that sometimes if I lift off the throttle a little the auto box will change up a bit faster.
Yesterday, I was driving normally and the transmission suddenly selected hill descent mode.
No matter what I did with the settings, it would not revert to standard mode.
Parked the car and went into a meeting and when I came out, all seemed to be back to normal.
I have an iCarsoft LR V2.0 diagnostic kit but not too familiar with it to feel confident to use.
Anyone had this happen to them? All help or previous experience of this would be appreciated.

At that mileage, some say that the full gearbox flush is not a good idea and how you have done it is better.

Sorry cant help with the problem and I see you posted on FFATRR so someone might reply there, refresh the question again.

Gut feel is it could be the torque converter slipping. Does it improve when the car has warmed up?

So many people will advise changing the oil thinking it will fix things when in reality it does nothing really. Was that the first oil change its had? If yes, thats quite late. General advise would be oil change on those every 40k ish.

Try taking it a gearbox specialist (Bristol Transmissions, Ashcroft or Planet Gears). Not sure I would bother with a normal garage as they just ship the box off to a specialist gearbox specialist anyway.

Yours will be the 8Sp and they are considered to be excellent compared to LR's usual efforts with gearboxes and advise on servicing them.

Yes, I must admit it is a bit high mileage to change the fluids but I only got the car a small mileage ago (about 3k).
I looked through the service history and couldn't find any mention of it being changed before.
Hope your gut feeling about the torque converter is wrong but will search for a local transmission specialist (I am in south Bucks).
There used to be one in Chesham but they seem to have shut down.

Taken all the advice on board and I am still not 100% convinced the gearbox is as it should be.
Driven other L405's but you can never replicate the exact circumstances of your own (traffic conditions etc) so never a good comparison.
So, I am now looking for an auto transmission specialist within a sensible radius to where I live.
I am in South Bucks, near Gerrards Cross and Slough, that sort of region. Scanning the internet shows very little or nothing that grabs my interest.
If anyone has a recommendation I would be very grateful. Thanks.

Again may be too late, but Bristol Transmissions were very good fixing my Discovery box (taken out for a full overhaul) at 135000 miles. Not particularly close for you, but there is a train station a 30 minute walk from them. I don't know if its the same box, but ours was simply worn out from towing much of its life and going into limp mode whenever towing.
