Our new FFRR L460
Discussion
There doesn't seem to be any owners threads of the new big Range Rover, so thought I would start one.
We took delivery of our D350 Autobiography on the 1st March.
We replaced our Range Rover Sport 510e First Edition with this.
The Sport was my first toe in the water with Range Rovers as they didn't interest me due to stories of poor reliability, but with it being all new decided to give it a go.
That was just a fantastic car and cannot recommend them enough.
Our new car is the normal wheel base and have to say doesn't feel much bigger than its supposed little brother.
Colour is Charente Grey which seems to have a brown and purple fleck through it which really is a stunning colour and really suits the car.
The interior is Portofino which doesn't appeal to everyone as its perceived as hard to keep clean, but we spec all our SUVs with light interior and with loads of kids and dogs, I don't think its hard to keep clean at all.
Spec was black pack, black roof and 23" gloss black wheels.
It also has perhaps the worlds most expensive mudflaps at around £440.
After 3 weeks, I have to say we are once again very impressed with every aspect of the car.
Very similar interior to the Sport so everything was familiar on arrival.
We have only done around 350 miles so far, but averaged 38.1mog on a 70 mile round trip at the weekend, which I find astonishing for a huge lump like this.
Even with the 23" wheels, there is zero crashing over bumps etc and its the best 'wafting' vehicle we have owned to date.
Interior finish is also lovely and the leather heading is also a nice feature.
Better than the Sport? Hard to call as they are very similar and both very, very good.
The price difference between them was around £9k so not massive, but small enough to go for the big brother imo.
Do really miss the plug in hybrid as in the 6 months of owning the Sport, I never once put fuel in it.
I have ordered a plug in hybrid version of this model, so I guess I can suck it up till that arrives!
Happy to answer any questions for any potential owners.

Stunning Car.
I'm thinking about ordering a FFRR Autobiography soon and buying a used on to see me through to delivery.
I have a few questions on things I'm unsure about, I'd be grateful if you can help:
- Is the ClearSight rear view mirror standard on the Autobiography?
- Is it possible to fit deployable sidesteps to a used model? Would it be the same price as when ordered on a new car? Do you have them and would you recommend them?
- A salesman mentioned that the Meridien Surround System is no available to order at the moment. Do you know how I can tell visually whether used models have the surround system or the non-surround? What is the Meridien 'Signature' system? (or is this all standard on the Autobigraphy)?
- Is the rear centre touchscreen standard on Autobiography?
Any thoughts on depreciation between the D350 and P440e or P510e? I must admit, I do have one eye on depreciation!

- I’ll answer these for you as I’ve recently took delivery of a D350 Autobiography and so has my business partner…I reckon I could build a car on the configuration tool blindfolded!*

I have a few questions on things I'm unsure about, I'd be grateful if you can help:
- Is the ClearSight rear view mirror standard on the Autobiography?
- Yes, it’s a standard option*
- Is it possible to fit deployable sidesteps to a used model?
- Yes, it’s possible to retro fit them as they’re a dealer fit option even if you spec the car on configuration tool.*
Would it be the same price as when ordered on a new car?
- I spec’d my car without the steps thinking I might be able to save some money by retro fitting them….they’re being fitted next week, the dealer has confirmed that they’re same price either way, should have just added it the build!*
Do you have them and would you recommend them?
- I’m missing not having them as I’ve previously had them on my earlier Range Rover’s, hence me getting them fitted next week*
- A salesman mentioned that the Meridien Surround System is no available to order at the moment. Do you know how I can tell visually whether used models have the surround system or the non-surround?
- If they have the Meridian Signature then they’ll have speakers the back panels of the front seats*
What is the Meridien 'Signature' system? (or is this all standard on the Autobigraphy)?
- Signature should be standard but not available at the moment, my Autobiography and my business partners both came WITHOUT signature due to component shortages (apparently)*
- Is the rear centre touchscreen standard on Autobiography?
- Yes it is, providing you select the executive rear seats*
Any thoughts on depreciation between the D350 and P440e or P510e? I must admit, I do have one eye on depreciation!
- My D350 Autobiography is fantastic and i personally feel it’s the sweet spot of the choices available. I’ve previously owned 5 (yes 5) L405 Autobiography’s and they all had the V8 diesels which i loved and think the D350 is better than them!*

How long did you have to wait from ordering?
Ordered them in November 2021…it’s been a test of patience The cars looks great!
How long did you have to wait from ordering?
We also migrated to Bentayga’s for 12 months, they’re great car’s but Range Rovers are just more user friendly in my opinion
I like the light coloured interior and I wouldn't have it any other way. External colour on the sport is great. Sport has always suited Red and that goes right back to when it was launched in 04.
Many Land Rovers receive glowing reviews when they are brand new. The truth usually rises to the surface much later on
Land Rover do ride comfort very well and yes, its even more amazing when they are running 23in wheels.

This 350 Autobiography was ordered in Nov '21 and arrived late Feb for 1st March registration.
I then ordered a 440e plug in hybrid Autobiography on launch date Feb '22 and was told there was a push on them so it might arrive June '22...that still has not turned up yet.
It might do in 4 weeks or 4 months; still no build date. Hopefully late August for September registration.
I also ordered a 510e SV when we collected this D350 with an indication of 12-18 months.
Ours went back in to have the as mentioned 'worlds most expensive' mudflaps last week as they were on back order and had a D350 SE demo as a courtesy car.
That had the deployable side steps which were fantastic.
My dealer says they all come from factory without the side steps and are fitted upon arriving at the dealer if spec'd, hence why its the same £3200 ish whether ordered at spec time or afterwards. So much easier for access especially the kids with the steps, as although we have the setting for the suspension to automatically drop on switching off, it is still a decent height to climb in and out when set to 'access'.
Will definately be fitting them when the 440e arrives but holding off on this one as I don't know how long i shall have it.
The SE had the basic rear mirror which looked very cheap; the clever mirror should be fitted to them all at this price range and it's absolutely fantastic, if a bit bizarre at first.
The SE had the basic headling and pillar coverings; it really makes you appreciate the leather heading and coverings more.
The demo also had the electric towbar which is actually a nice option and totally invisible when tucked away; might just add that on the others coming.
The demo had 22" wheels and no dynamic settings; we felt the ride was nowhere near as good, and you felt potholes and bumps etc that you just didn't feel in the Autobiography or the RR Sport First Edition we had.
The diesel is fantastic; I've not had a diesel 4x4 for around 8 years; very quiet and really nice to waft around in.
This is my wife's car and I don't think she has done more than 50miles a day in her life...the petrol plug in hybrid was just fantastic; when we traded it in after 6 months it still had the remains of the fuel we recieved it with!
Best journey we achieved almost 80miles before the engine kicked in but averaged around 55 miles during winter.
Not ideal for everyone but perfect for us.
With 510 bhp it was no such either; hopefully the 440e will be just as good.
How are other owners getting on with their cars?
Nearly 12 months of Range Rover ownership over 2 cars and not a single issue or glitch on either.
The Sport was fantastic, but its big brother is definitely my favourite out of the 2.
Diesel has been very good.
On a recent journey to Aberdeen, it managed to crack over 40mpg; for a 2 tonne monster, that's fantastic.
Our new hybrid one that arrives in September has been given the upgrade to a 460e...really looking forward to that as we never once put petrol in the 440e sport that we had for 6 months.
As frugal as the diesel is, the psychological feel good of not putting fuel in at a petrol station is very pleasing.

I am on my second 460, my tenth Range Rover.
Had a D350 hse for 4 months as a stop gap until my P530 Autobiography arrived.
1st had a problem with the screen wash, 2nd has problem with not installing updates over the air twice.
The car is with out doubt the best Range Rover ever but has lost some of the magic.
I hate the steering wheel, it is bling form over function.

We've had one since September. It's a P400se. In retrospect I should have ordered the diesel. The P400 doesn't really suit the character of the RR and the MPG is woeful.
My main bugbear is the interior. It's well put together but ours is looking a bit tired already. We have three kids that get carted about in it and after 17k miles the soft touch materials haven't stood up to well. Perhaps a 110 defender would have been more suitable to family duties!

Have you been specifically told your hybrid is arriving in September? I still don’t have a date for my hybrid and it will be 2 years since I ordered it in October. Nearly 12 months of Range Rover ownership over 2 cars and not a single issue or glitch on either.

.
I’m coming up to a year .
4th FFRR ,L322 x2 405 and L460 .
Without doubt the best ever .Love it.
Cancelled order so I took what I was given HSE blackpack D300 23 inch wheels etc . Would really prefer D360/ AB
BUT
The D300 is really an extremely strong engine, far more ooomphhh than I will ever need, although I don’t tow.
Two issues, others have had the same, one completely dead battery, which I guess was a software issue that hasn’t recurred. (2) The back light failed.
Both are not an issue in themselves on a brand newly designed car, but there was a delay in the part… none available Lots of angst. .JLR seem to be on top of those delays for small parts now,
BUT the service department need an IQ transplant. So much so I was going to give the car back…but driving for just 25 yards all that unnecessary misery evaporated.

They did give me the first 510e sport that came up here last August when I hadn't asked for one, so confident it shall happen.
Not a biggie as the current diesel Autobiography is simply a fantastic car, so no hurry to offload.
Coming through to Edinburgh Airport yesterday it indicated 42.2mpg.
Thats precent decent mpg for anything, never mind wafting in a huge 2 tonne thing.
So, just less than 6 mths in, and the car goes away this week.
We have a build date for its replacement in October, and the dealer offered me a great price to take this now.
Only 6mths of ownership, but like the 6mths in the Sport before, its a fantastic vehicle to cut about in with zero visits back to the dealer.
Charente Grey is an amazing colour and really suits the car, especially with gloss black pack Inc the roof.
The 23" alloys are lovely and do not alter the ride quality.
Perlino interior really nice and prevents it being like a cave in the rear, especially with privacy glass and electric blinds.
Last journey yesterday, it turned out 49.3mog.
All in all, just a great car.
