Hi everyone,

I’m seriously considering buying a used Defender 110 D300 on a 2020/ 2021 plate. Looking at X-Dynamic / HSE spec. Live ‘out in the sticks,’ and a 2015 Skoda Yeti has served me brilliantly however I want something else and keep coming back to the LR, which would be a keeper. (Will be keeping the Yeti as a back up)

However, stories of general reliability, water ingress, extended visits to the dealer and high, longer-term repair costs, outside of warranty, are holding me back and giving me pause for thought.

Would therefore appreciate hearing some real world owner experiences, the good and the bad. Also, what to look out for when buying, what you consider to be ‘must have’ options and any advice re. solid warranty options, once initial manufacturer cover expires.

Cheers!

Steve

Might be worth asking your question over on https://www.defender2.net/forum/ quite a few L663 owners there.

I’m on 2 new Defender fb group, purely to see how they are getting on as I want a D300 HSE 110 but it will be in a few years as I don’t have the money for one.

I haven’t seen anything that would put me off one.
A few electrical things that are sorted with a pivipro reset.

Personally, I would want one with the matrix headlights, air suspension, and tow package.
Lots of other bits can be retrofitted or unlocked.

I would avoid anything that’s been “Urbaned” as they look awful hehe

You'd better stay away from the Internet then... It's like having a cold and then Googling the symptoms; within 10mins you'll be convinced you'll be dead by the end of the day.

People use forums to have a moan, they rarely use then to sing the praises.

We've had a D250 SE for 8 months, purchased new. It has been utterly faultless and I am quite fussy! Contrast with previous Disco sport which had a handful of niggly, mainly electronic issues over 2 years.

The 250 is plenty fast enough, loads of low down torque and suits the relaxed nature of the car. As a family vehicle, particularly a family with 2 lively boys and a dog, it suits us perfectly, highly recommended.
