Looking into purchasing a L494 RRS.

I want to go for the Autobiography spec as I want the adaptive cruise control and heated wheel. Also looking at 2018 onwards so we get the new interior tech.

Likely the TDV6 as I don't fancy sub 20mpg with a petrol version (although the V8 petrol may be fun?!)

Is there anything to look out for/ avoid in terms of options and things to look out for on inspection?

I will likely buy from a main dealer for the warranty as I know these are not the most reliable cars.

I purchased my 2014 RRS from a main dealer for the security of the warranty in 2020. Mine was an HSE Dynamic 3.0 SDV6. I know the engine gets stick but mine was absolutely fantastic. I think you are wise looking for a later car with PIvi 2 system. Approved used should generally mean new brakes and discs and decent tyres.

I think it’s the same as everything, check the service history and that it has all been done( ie right service at the right time). Check for accident damage and repairs. If ivory doorcards check for leather wear. My final advice would be check absolutely everything works but using every button including the E brake. I think things on these sometimes break due to lack of use as they are so complex.

PS get a Faraday pouch for your keys and spare keys as they scumbags love a L494.

I don’t believe you get new brakes but they have to have so much life in them. From memory I think they’re allowed up to 50% wear before they have to replace them before selling. Tyres I think have to have at least 3mm tread. I’m sure someone will correct me if I’m wrong.

I’ve also been looking at similar RRS’s, does anyone know how the TD6 engine compares to the SDV6?
