Just a quick one im sure most already know but the 3d meridian sound system has been removed from the Range Rover sport and potentially the Range Rover due to microchip shortages. With this happening is anyone getting a reduction in cost of vehicle or anything
Thanks

No chance of a cost reduction when they can sell your car to someone else if you don’t want it.

Understandable but if its missing a substantial part would you not expect some sort of reduction otherwise its an indirect price increase

See my answer above.

No shortage of people wanting one.
Someone else won’t care about the sound system being a bit less if they get the car.

Suppose you could wait for chip shortages to end then spec a car but you’ll be in for a wait.

Not to be rude, just honest.

They de-specked my Defender HSE order and put the price up cos it went from a 2022 to a 2023 order, no wireless apple car play, no electric adjusted steering column, no clearview rear view mirror, no soft close rear door, as previously mentioned, they don't give a st, probably want me to cancel my order (I ordered back in Feb, its due the end of December) because they can sell it for more after they put a few miles on it. I even spoke to the MD's assistant of JLR UK, she basically said, take it or leave it!!

Crazy. We specced one a few months ago and I noticed that they’d dropped the rear view mirror which is a pain on the Defender as the dark window, spare wheel and extra seats obstruct view in the regular rear view mirror, the rest you mention is news to me, not bothered about steering wheel, but not having wireless apple play will be a pain. I was told the purpose of the boot soft close was because they’d had problems with people slamming the door!

I have seen someone on a Range Rover sport forum say they were offered £500 compensation for an autobiography not having the fancy stereo

Completely agree. I cannot remember what the option cost was form the base system but I think surround was £1000 or thereabouts and the maxed out option was £3500. So £500 is a complete joke really

Technically they are making more money without it than when it was on it.

If you paid extra for it as an option and now it isn't coming I doubt you will be charged for the option surely ?
If it was standard fit then I would assume as with other stories I have heard there will be some compensation which I believe is on a fixed scale depending on the manufacturers perception of how damaging it is to the new owner.

I have a 110 Defender D300 HSE X dynamic on order that was due Aug/Sept 2023 and the dealer called last week to say it will be built w/c 9th Jan 2023 with expected delivery early Feb. He assured me there will be no deletions and that includes matrix headlights and large screen which were on the ‘at risk list’ when ordered.
I am rather pleased, he could not give a reason for the early build, but did say there are a few that have moved forward not all.
I also think he was probably hoping my funds were not in place and I would turn it down, but I am good to go when they are.
Fingers crossed it happens.
