Buying a Classic Range Rover
Discussion
I'm interested in replacing my 1992 Discovery with a Classic Range Rover. I love the shape and style of the Classic.
Have see a 1989 Vogue with very, very low mileage - so a unique offer. They want about £ 6,000 for it. Any answers to the following questions, relevant experiences, etc. would be appreciated:
- Is this a good model year, or should I go for a 90's model with ABS etc.
- Are the 90's Classics really that much safer and better - and MORE RELIABLE?
- Are RR Classics bad value compared to a Discovery in terms of safety, reliability etc
- Does the same money simply buy a better Disco because it's a more modern vehicle?
- Do Disco's wear their mileage better?
Thanks.

I bought a 91 Vouge SE V8 with an LPG conversion for 2750 4 months ago and loving it.
Cost me £100 quid to do all the fluids and filters and pads.
There is a good community to help and they are easy to work on.
Buy on condition and not mileage. Mine has 142K and is brill.

I would go for late as possible. 92 saw air suspension and 94-95 had the soft dash like the discos. Air suspension can be expensive to fix if you don't have a specialist handy. Best bet is a 92 SE

No but if it has been going this long it will probably have had a bit replaced

The original Disco was based on the RRC. It shares a lot of the mechanicals.

£6000 will buy you a P38 or a Disco 2. Different vehicles entirely.
- Do Disco's wear their mileage better?
Depends on the life they have had.
