Good evening!

Does anyhow know the height of a Disco 5 and a Range Rover Sport is, when the hatch is open? I am contemplating, whether I shall biy one of these, but do fear that it will be impossible to actually open the back in our - rather low - garage.

Best regards,

Max

You can set the height that you want the tailgate to open to avoid hitting the ceiling -

Even better for catching your head on the sharp, angled corners of the D5 tailgate! biggrin I only managed it once but took a chunk out of my scalp, whoever designed it - as well as many other D5 fk-ups - should be shot!

Thanks. The issue is not stopping the hatch from hitting the ceiling. I need to know if I can open it enough to be able to load properly... the form of the hatch, in particular the spoiler, worries me. I am afraid that I can only really use the hatch outside.

I'm not able to decipher your OP but how about a visit to a dealer and a tape measure?

Oh dear - sorry for the horrible spelling in my original post. Autocorrection at work… frown

Unfortunately, taking the height myself at the dealer actually seems to be the only solution. Even LR could not answer and referred me to one of the local dealers…

There’s an art to it. Stand behind the tailgate and open on the key fob. See how close you can get to the top of your garage without hitting it. Remove boot items without braining yourself on the sharp tailgate edge. Then remember to shut boot on the tailgate button rather than key, so you don’t hear an expensive scraping sound.

It’s easy really.

Finally using the car (L494) with a tape measure in the boot. Not sure how much sense this photo might make, but stare at it for a bit... laugh
