Are all the different additives much of a muchness for my RR?
Is it just a case of shopping around for the best available price or is there more to it than that?

Ad blue is ad blue is ad blue.

Tesco seem to be consistently the cheapest.

We always use the official dealer for ad-blue, more to avoid any "discussions" in the event of a warranty claim than anything else.

Saving a little bit on an ad-blue fill-up could come back and bite you later on.

Sunbeam, I agree that when your car is under dealership warranty, then stick with the recommended stuff.
But after that, my feeling is that maybe the middle of the road stuff is good enough (ie don't buy the very cheapest but be a bit sensible)
Also I heard somewhere that if you do not use the entire container of fluid, it starts to chrysalis and can be problematic.
I have also heard that if the car is parked over a long period of time, the fluid sitting in the tank can do the same thing. In which case, what do you do if the car is laid up for a long period?
Sensationalism or the bitter truth?

I've seen this mentioned a lot (guessing you meant crystalise but were shafted by auto-correct) . We have a 1000 liter mini-bulk tank on the farm and I've not noticed any problem so far, although we do get through it reasonably quickly.

Can't comment on the long-term laid up as it's not something we have experienced.

I did indeed mean crystallise. Sorry can't remember if auto-correct changed it or my cr**p spelling.

I was told that it needs to be kept away from light once a container is opened (bought from service stations they are normally in clear drums). The barrels we have at work are blue to stop any light getting into the adblue.

I just use the pump at my local BP. It was 179p for 13 litres yesterday, no idea how that compares with either other filling stations or buying it in a container but it’s a hell of a lot easier filling up.

This is a superb post, the amount of vehicles using adblu, this should be available at all service stations.

We won't use anything other than genuine adblue on JLR cars,

100% agree with this . All petrol stations should advertise more clearly that they have it "on tap"

S orry, I know it sounds a bit thick, but do mean it cost you £1.79 for 13litres of ad blu? Not £1.79 per litre?

There was stuff in forums about Jaguar blaming Halfords AdBlue for causing issues.

Incredible, almost as expensive as fuel for some urine.

Last year we were buying urea at £300/tonne. We're currently being offered it (but not buying) at £1800/tonne. 50% of world production is in Ukraine/Russia.

True, but in 3 years/ 30k miles I think I’ve only needed to fill up 3 (maybe 4 times) so not a massive cost in the grand scheme of things.
