Wonder if anyone can help me out here?
I have a 2016 L494 Sport Dynamic and the gear shift lever is stuck in park.
I drove the car home as per normal. Parked up and twenty minutes later I can't move the lever out of park.
It has shown no signs of any problem before this but it seem that the small release button on the back of the lever is the problem.
If I tap the lever there is a slight rattle.
Has anyone had this problem and is this something that I could look into myself?
Thanks in advance.
Chris

Very common problem with any vehicle using that gearbox and gear lever. Luckily repair kits are easy to come by as a Genuine Part. (No: LR117072)

Or via your local main dealer etc.

Thanks Cold,
After I posted my query, I looked at the Powerful UK site and they have a "How to" video which is very useful.
I have ordered the replacement part and I'll strip down the lever tomorrow in readiness for the new button (£14.00).
So relieved that this happened at home as I can only imagine the JLR recover costs

I keep a repair kit in the boot alongside the locking wheelnut key etc. As you suggest, it's such a trivial bit of plastic that can completely cripple the car and it would be frustrating for it to fail somewhere away from home.

Not needed it yet - touch wood... thumbup

I've been on the Land Rover FB groups for years and you would be surprised how many holidays get ruined by Land Rovers breaking.

However, the family wagon Mondeo ruined my 40th birthday present back in May...

Good news. The gear shift part arrived yesterday from Powerful UK and I fitted it this morning.
I only bought the button as the pcb and rest of the mechanism was fine.
Will keep the old, repaired one as a backup.
Thanks for your help guys.
