I need some help in trying to sort out what service my vehicle requires.
It is a Discovery Sport 2. regd March 2016.
Mileage is now 45k
Dealer services were carried out at 22k in Feb 19 (48k service)
Then at 34k in Sept 20.
Both main dealer.
I purchased the car in Aug 21 and at the time the dealer fully checked the car, resulting in an internal invoice for just over 2k.
The car is now telling me it needs a service so I contacted the main dealer I purchased it from.
They quoted a special price of £675, discounted from over £900, by LandRover wanting to keep older cars in the franchised dealers.
Part of the cost was 'to replace all brake pipes'.
I cannot find any referance to this being necessary.
So help please, is this service cost reasonable.?
Should I continue to get it main dealer serviced?
Or, in view of its age, seek out a reputable independent dealer in the North East.Any recommendations?
Thanks.

£675 or even £900 doesn't sound too fat off for a major service at a franchised dealer.

Why not ask them for a full breakdown to see what it entails. Indint know what the schedule for your car states but allowing for:

Air filter
Cabin filter
Engine oil and filter
Brake fluid
Fuel filter?
Spark plugs

Could easily come to £675.

There is zero chance they're changing all the brake pipes for £675 though!!! To genuinely change all the brake pipes (which wouldn't be a service item) would be £1000s!

Thanks for your reply.I was wondering why they mentioned brake pipes. I wouldn't have thought they were needed.I thought I would ask for advice before I went back to them for full breakdown.

I have a DS 2.2 SD4 HSE Luxury

First registered July 2015 to Land Rover, so presumably used as a demo and loan car.
I purchased December 2016, 7300 miles, from a LR MD.
Serviced August 2017 and at yearly intervals since then.
Used a LR MD until August 2020 since when serviced by a local indy.
Annual service yesterday.
Now done 49,500 miles

I think that there’s a so-called small and large service and that they alternate each year.
MD costs were around £600 each year, indy is around £400 each year.

Due a cam belt change this year so will be done in around two weeks. I think your model will have a timing chain.

I think you need to be wary of MD’s advice. Three years ago the MD I was using told me the brakes had worn and needed replacing. Indy said no need and still not been changed. As regards your car’s brake pipes, I’d get a second opinion from another garage before committing to the replacement.

Hope this helps.

If Wetherby’s not too far, Green Oval are an awesome bunch.

Mine is on 32k and first registered November 2016. Service light come on stating it needs a service in 800 miles. Checked with 2 local main dealers both saying it needs its 3rd service. One quoted £675 and the other £635 and for that I get a free health check, woopydoo.
Sorry but I've gone down the favoured independent route, £329.00. Not local to you so sorry can't help with one in your area.

I use a service spec sheet from Land Rover as my guide and record of what to service on my 2016 Discovery 4.

It says that the six flexible brake pipes should be changed at six years old.

I changed mine at five years old as the rear hard lines had rusted through and had sprung a leak.
Made sense and made the job easier to do the flexi’s at the same time.
