had a L494 for a while and absolutely loved it, but cant fathom purchasing one now with huge depreciation likely.

How good is the L320? looks to be at bottom of depreciation with the ability to pick up a good example for around £10k.

Common faults in this day and age?

Couple of starters for 10. Should keep you amused.

I don't do electrickerycomputery stuff so have no interest in getting one. Lovely when they're running right though.

Just bear in mind that these are champagne cars - as I'm sure you know from you L494 - & you aren't going to run one on lemonade money & with older ones therein lies the problem.

common faults? There will be many smile

How many miles do you do? If you can stomach the mpg on the petrol, that is the better engine to go for reliability wise. The 3.0 TDV6 is nice but has a very poor reputation for terminal engine failure.

Belt change on the V6 diesel is quite pricey at around £800

fuel tank sender is known to cause issues
usual air suspension gremlins (Compressor, air tank corrosion, valve blocks, sensors). Same with any air suspension equipped LR really

If you go with the 4.2 petrol supercharged option, then make sure the SC oil is changed as its often overlooked and the rebuild isn't too bad, but its headache you could do with out.

6Sp Vs 8Sp. The 8Sp box is smoother, considered more reliable and gives slightly better mpg too. Recognized by the rotary dial gear change vs the traditionally ugly wand in the 6sp cars. £10k is pretty much 6Sp cars.

12My cars got Bluetooth streaming and the the 8Sp box and are usually 2-3k more due to reasons above.

Its a LR, so they ight leak by the sunroof drains. Common on many cars.

The 09> RRs are really nice looking cars and well worth a punt as long as you know what you are getting in for.

Don't discount the 3.6 tdv8. I picked one up recently and love it. Works well in combo with the 6sp gearbox because it tends to use the torque rather than kickdown or shuffle up the ratios constantly.

Mine does mid-30s mpg on a relaxed motorway run, and did 31mpg with 5 people, luggage and pushing it quite hard last week between Leic and Bristol.

Touch wood, no issues with mine thus far, bar some squeaky suspension bushes after a long drive.
