2016 L494 tailgate has started making a funny noise when either opening or closing (via the switch) on the nearside and seems to be coming from the hinge area.
Sounds something like a worn gear that is not meshing properly with another.
Obviously everything is enclosed so can't spot anything at the moment.
Any ideas? Maybe heard of this before? Thanks.

It may well be an early warning of the powered strut starting to fail.

Seems a strange question when you can easily search somewhere like Autotrader for specific years, models, colour etc.
Is there a particular reason why you need to know?

They are known to droop, same on the 405 and many LRs of that era.

I would bet it is a relatively easy fix - requires spoiler removal (i.e. the top bit that covers the wiper) and realigninging of the strut/connectors. Does require battery disconnection, but diy-able.

I believe about 3hours at a Md/indie. If its a strut you still have to do the same, just add cost of parts which are a straight swap.
