Morning all

I'm considering a L322. Either a 2008 facelift with the 3.6 TDV8 or maybe a leggy 2010 4.4 with the 8Sp.

I'm well aware of the lengthy list of RR foibles, but this is not what this post is about.

It's my understanding that the stereos in the facelift cars can be replaced by a generic Android or double din unit (See below)

However, can someone confirm if these 2010 units had DAB as standard and you just need the Bovee unit to add Bluetooth streaming? Also as far as I'm aware there is no replacement option for the entire head unit on the 2010 cars apart from adding a Parrot MKI unit.

I've previously had a Discovery 3 (shouldn't have sold that) and I still have a Series 3 too, but the RR is an itch that I need to scratch.

2010 units do have DAB as standard but not DAB+ so the range of stations available is limited.

The headunits are very difficult to upgrade. Naviplus is an option but is extremely expensive (around £800 I think).

I went for a cheap option. On the rear of the centre console there is an AUX socket, cigarette lighter and a 12v outlet. I purchased a USB Bluetooth Receiver with 3.5mm socket from eBay for £5. Plug this into the 12v socket (using a USB charger) and connect the 3.5mm into the AUX socket beside it. Pair the phone to the Bluetooth Receiver for Media but not phone calls. The car continues to handle calls and I can stream music from any app or all DAB stations via the Simple Radio app to the headunit (switch it to the AUX portable input).

I have taken this a step further by wiring the Bluetooth Receiver inside the centre console so it's completely concealed. Android Driving Mode connects automatically and also gives navigation directions through the car's speakers when using Waze etc. This should also work with Apple phones.

Thanks for replying. Yeah, I'm trying to avoid the Aux option as my experience of these is the volume is considerably less.

We only listen to about three radio stations in our car, so I think we would survive without Dab plus 😁.

It's tye Bluetooth streaming that I would miss the most 😕. I have a 12v cigarette lighter solution for my current heap and that is fine most of the time, but it's far from a neat solution.
