Harry metcalfe takes one for a test...
Slipping gearbox hunting relentlessly, shakes and rattles, stiff ride , No Cruise control , leather seats that look poor..
for 170 grand id expect this to be perfect, ideally with a modern V8 engine and a 6 speed auto not an old 3.9 blown up to 5 litres ( how thin are those cylinder walls ?? )

I am very happy for them to build a market at this level - mine (same car, but LWB) cost me £3k and has had about £10k spent on it which included a full chassis restoration, rust removed in the body and a full engine rebuild (very similar to the Kingsley car). Yes, their interior is tidier and the paintwork on mine needs doing - but mine could be brought up to the same level for about another £10k - so if they can build a market at £170k then that hugely increases the value of mine
Not sure the leather on the seats looks good - seems to be a bit wrinkled! They have also removed the air suspension (shame as it is cheap to fix and works really well) and Harry Metcalfe doesn't seem hugely impressed by the suspension changes...
They are fabulous cars, esp. with the extra space of the LWB

Watched the video last night and found myself thinking the same thing, I thought it was just me being picky! My old 3.9 Hard Dash gearbox behaved far far better than the Kingsley one seemed to, and I am sure Ashcroft offered (or used to) offer an upgraded torque converter which stopped it slipping so much. The quality of the leather didn't look great, the creaks and rattles were unacceptable, any why wasn't there any soundproofing under the bonnet?
£170k for this is ridiculous.

The bore on the 3.9 and 5.0 are both 94mm. Harry metcalfe takes one for a test...

Some years ago I had a look round 80 EX, the white 3 door one.
The leather work finish on that wasn’t great either, wrinkled, stitching wonky, and a lot of other interior areas were poorly finished, including paint.
There is not necessarily a correlation between £££ being asked and the quality.
Most of the articles I’ve seen so far think Kingsley are the Bees Knees despite some other people in the RRC world not necessarily agreeing, so interesting Harry is being more forthright.
But resto’s aren't cheap - I’m £30k into mine - despite doing a bit of the grunt work. You’ve got to get the body off to do it properly….next thing you’ve got a chassis, a bodyshell and lots and lots of bits.
But in some ways they’re employing people and keeping interest in RRC’s high…and Damon clearly identified a market.

I'd rather have this one:

It's one my friend painted and he said it's a stunner.
