Defender Td5 difflock light
Discussion
Thought I’d ask despite PH not being too tech-heavy but anyway….
Def 90 Td5, difflock warning light has gone AWOL.
It isn’t the switch and the light still won’t come on if I short the lead directly to earth.
So I’m suspecting a broken wire somewhere.
Is there a common, known spot where they fail, or am I better off just running a new wire?

I’ve tried bridging it and shorting it direct to earth.
Still nothing.
My understanding was that there’s a +ve feed to the light that earths via the switch?
You will need to trace the wiring using the relevant wiring diagram. It is most likely a broken wire or the dash cluster. Still nothing.

Yes I know.
I was asking if there’s a known weak point somewhere.
I've already told you. The wires are exposed from where they run around the gearbox into the main loom.I was asking if there’s a known weak point somewhere.
You will need to test the dash cluster though to rule that out otherwise you will end up going around in circles.
I am assuming there is definitely continuity through the switch when difflock is engaged. The switch doesn't earth, it just switches.
