Hi all

Range Rover L405 has thrown up a refill diesel exhaust fluid tank warning.

I’ve put in a whole bottle (about 2 litres I think) and the message is still showing.

Have I not put in enough or is there another reason why the message still shows

Many thanks

Hi, only done mine once since I've had it, it took a lot more than 2 ltrs, best part of 5 ltrs from memory, and message cleared straight away.

What was the count down to no start ? normally they take 5 bottles of the genuine JLR adblue to fill. If the system is full then we have seen (on discovery sports) the wire on the nox sensor break causing this warning.

There was not a countdown, just that message. However I’ve now sorted it by adding a further 4.7 litres of adblue. I am surprised it took so much.

Thanks anyway.

You need to put a certain amount in for it to register, you may want to add more as 7 litres isn't much. Also if its under warranty use the genuine stuff, its around £8 for just under 2 litres We won't put anything in other than genuine.

I used Shell because it was all I could get.

Is there not a menu on the dash that tells you how much it needs for minimum and maximum levels?

My works 2021 Transit can tell me it’s range, level and how much it needs.
Usually a minimum of 5 litres but can take as much as 16.

First hit on Google goes to a LR page that says it’s minimum 3.6 litres.

On wife’s Tiguan there’s a label that says put at least 5 litres in.

Yes, ignition on but don’t start, go into the service menu and it states how many miles left to no start. It also shows every time you start the car. Trouble is people don’t believe it and ignore it.

Aftermarket adblue allegedly blocks the system as it crystallises jlr throw out any warranty claims if genuine fluid isn’t used.

At least you checked though.

That’s strange on the adblue as the work transits and sprinters get whatever is on Morrison’s forecourts and they haven’t given any issues.
I’ve filled 2 sprinters and 5 transits and not one has flagged up an issue.
