Bit of a strange one, but I've got an issue with a two year old Disco Sport (no keyless entry).

Clicking the lock button on the key fob will seemingly lock the car as normal, with the mirrors folding in and the hazards flashing along with the usual sound of locks engaging. However once it's locked, if I try and open one of the doors, it will unlock the car and the mirrors fold back out again (as if I've clicked the unlock button).

There is no audible warning when clicking the lock button so it all appears to be acting normally, and if I try clicking twice I get a single beep rather than the previous double beep, but the car can still be unlocked by trying one of the doors. Bonnet/boot and doors are all closed properly.

The batteries in the fob have been changed, but I don't believe that to be the problem as it was acting oddly prior to that. Manually locking the car with the key doesn't help, as trying a door handle unlocks all doors again!

I'm guessing this will need a visit to the dealership, but has anyone experienced anything similar or have any idea what could be causing this? Not ideal having to keep the car unlocked overnight again!

Try fully locking as usual, take the key 100+m away, then walk back to the car and see if the doors unlock when you are back. Then report back here!

Does your app say anything useful? Mine says my car is currently locked and alarmed so maybe yours might flag something up?
The other key isn't in the car is it? Not sure why that would make a difference with keyless but there may be something to prevent you locking keys in the car.

What he said. Mercedes are exactly the same, it is all to do with keyless entry, if you have the keys in your pocket the keyless entry works; confusing if you have not read the handbook (which is confusing in its own right not written for the average geek)

Certainly sounds like you do have keyless entry.

When you lock the doors from the remote, keep the key with you and grasp the driver's door handle (or any of them to be honest) but don't pull it. Do the doors unlock? If so, then you have keyless entry - this operates via a capacitive sensor in the handle that when set searches for a valid key nearby.

Another way to check - do your door handles have a little depression moulded into them like this (image found on the web)?

If so, you have keyless - you touch that depression with the key with you to lock the car (touch twice within 3 seconds to double lock)

Lock the car with the key and check the Remote app (if you are still using the older InControl Remote app, upgrade via the links here: https://www.landrover.co.uk/incontrol/connectivity... ). Does it say locked or not?

You can also try locking the car and ensure the key (and the spare) are out of range (put them in a metal tin / microwave) and try again. If it still opens, there must be another key in the car - do you have an Activity Key?

Thanks all. It's not my car but was trying to help diagnose the issue for a relative yesterday. I was assured they don't have keyless entry, but it does appear that it could have.

Apparently using a different key when they got home resulted in locking working as usual, but it doesn't sound like something that would be as a result of a dodgy key.

I'll try and have another look, but supposedly it was able to be locked up with the second key (which presumably suggests no keyless entry if the door wasn't opening with the key nearby).

V80W,

I have a DS.

I am 100% sure they all come with keyless entry, hence my earlier post that will prove the point. I suspect the people you are trying to help do not understand how keyless entry works.

I think you are most likely correct! I will try and find out for sure when I can pop over, but as long as it's supposedly locked for now! laugh

Mine doesn’t - it’s one of the early new ones so maybe they do now, but I don’t have a dimple in the outside and I can’t see a sensor there. I did double check by trying to open it before replying to this thread!

Mine is 2015 and one of the very first models, with the Ford 2.2 engine. These all came with keyless entry. I am therefore surprised to see you say that the latest model may not have keyless entry.

Yeah, I checked on the builder on the Land Rover website and if you spec a bog standard one, Keyless Entry is an option so there must be some point in the range where they fit it as standard.
Doesn't help us much with this issue as the OP said it's a two year old car and I think the new model was released in late 2019 so we don't know if it's a late old model or an early new model!

I went over last night to have another look, and as predicted it has keyless entry laugh

I should have trusted my instinct, but at least I've found them a new feature after 2 years of owning the car!

Thanks all
