I'm looking for a 2019 Range Rover Sport, some of the ones I have seen at official dealers have missed their 2020 service and have not been serviced for nearly 2 years. When I ask the salesman they either say that the new cars can be serviced every 2 years or it's a non issue. However apart from not following the recommended maintenance could this be an issue for any potential warranty claims? I know with Porsche it would be.

Also so many for sale are without panoramic roof which I thought was a must have?

Cheers,

Younez

Why not ask Land Rover Extended Warranty what they think about this?
Best get it from the horse’s mouth (in writing preferably) before spending money.

The service interval is usually 2 years/16,000 miles so they’ve not missed one is the short answer

Is there anywhere I can see that, when I enter the cars details on the land rover site it shows a service due every year? Thanks

When I had my 2019 Jaguar E-Pace the dealer told me the interval was every two years

I would expect a 2019 Land Rover to be the same

I have a 2016 RRS and it’s 12 month intervals.
I have a service pack and have done 22k miles and it has had 4 services and the 5th will be in November!

The car I am looking at is a Range Rover Sport Si4 Petrol and think it is an annual service.

The 2 year service cars appear to be Range Rover Evoque, Discovery Sport - 2.0L diesel engines

Ah, don’t know about the petrol but as it’s one of the Ingenium engines I would imagine it’s 2years or 21000 miles but better to find out from LR to be on the safe side.

I’ve got a 2019 P400e which has the 2l petrol engine and it’s 100% a 2 year interval on that. My service indicator has just come on as it needs doing in the next couple of months. I actually only found out mine was a 2 year service when I phoned to book it in last year and the dealer said it didn’t need doing!

The Land Rover service portal and online user guide are suitably vague and just say the vehicle must be serviced when the service indicator comes on.

That’s 2016 info so I’m fairly certain out of date for the newer facelift models.

As for your question about the panoramic roof: I have one because of the trim level of my car, I seldom open the blind as I’m used to not having a sunroof in cars. I doubt I’d miss it but that’s very much a personal preference thing.

Whereabouts on the website are you entering the details to find that info? Sorry I’m using a mobile so the website is of course useless…..

Like you I’d be inclined to believe that and err on the side of caution!

We actively sought one without a pano roof.

When it's hot enough to have it open, you'll want the aircon at full chat and having an open roof would be counterproductive.

When it's not open, you'll want the blind in place to avoid looking up at the tree sap, bird st and general detritus which has landed on it.

More hassle than it's worth.

Service is usually done on time or mileage which ever comes first but don't want to buy a car that has missed it's first service by a year.

Just checked your model online and it also quotes yearly services.

Don't have hope in land rover customer service providing a quick reply.

Just worth mentioning that there was a pandemic and a lockdown in the last 18 months.

Some will have had issues getting their car serviced as per warranty.

That’s why I advised getting the warranty company’s attitude towards this unprecedented situation.

Si4 is a two yearly service. Mine’s due in September for its first one - two years old. This is from the app that tells you when the service is due. (And the dealer referred to it as needing its first service.)

It’s a D5, but same thing.

On a side note; you sure you want the Si4? I mean, it’s a good engine but I’m averaging 19mpg and 24mpg max on a run. It’s much better than the four pot diesel but isn’t even close to being as good as the new straight six or old V6.

(I went for it as I was worried about the V6 cranks.)

Further to the above I think I may have found the source of the confusion:

So today I rang to book my first service, first time the service indicator has gone off and consistent with what the dealer told me last year.

Service guy: Mr C you’ve missed a service!
Me: no I haven’t it’s a long life service interval
Service guy: it’s not
Me: then why was it told it was and why hasn’t the service indicator gone off
Service guy: don’t know it wasn’t me that told you that
Me: ok then book it in for its “2nd service” and I’ll sort this out with LR directly

I’ve just logged on to the online portal and after a bit of digging it clearly shows the interval on mine as 21000/24mths. (Sorry for the duff info about 16,000).

TLDR: dealer swears my service interval is 12/16000 but it’s 24/21000 which is what they told me last year. Arses and elbows and seemingly their system is giving them duff info for certain models/vehicles

Yep according to the online service history page you were and still are spot on. Now if you click the link to book a service it will offer you a 1yr/16000 mile or 2yr/32000 mile option. Go figure. I guess I’ll have to clarify with them tomorrow as their own systems contradict themselves which goes some way to explaining why the OP was getting conflicting info from dealers. Good old JLR, even their service system is glitchy

Edit: as a bonus it’s the cheapest service I’ll have had in about a decade which came as a surprise

Clarified with them. Definitely 100% 2 year. The LR website is wrong, the online service history portal is right.
