Get a really strong smell of fumes in the cab, it’s already been checked by a local independent specialist prior to purchase but no fault found.

It’s going elsewhere Monday, is there anywhere hidden to look? Or is it a common fault? Anything obvious to check?

Is it new to you?

Lots of owners mentioned this in the past. I think the consensus was that the cabin stinks when doing a regen, often people try and get home as it is worryingly bad, but then it doesn't finish and so the cycle continues.

I would take it for a blat with windows open and let it do its thing until the smell goes.

I would first get you head under the bonnet and get someone to rev it and see if any fumes are there, cause could be a cracked manifold or something similar, but my bet us regen.

New to me, but been like it for months just never had the chance to get it looked into.

Possibly the crossover pipe has cracked.

My D3s one went, granted it had done over 200k by the time that happened though.

Was a smell of exhaust fumes in the car from it.

I would get your head under the bonnet with someone revving and see if you can see fumes. It is really dangerous to drive if fumes are getting in the cabin, don't let kids get in if you have them.

If no pipes are cracked try a DPF clean/flush/regen process. Sorry can't advise on make of product solution used as a garage did the work, but this did seem to work.
