Ford’s Bronco’s back - base price starting c £24k in the states which could be £ 31k with Uk import duty & vat. It’s exactly the basic, no frills, truck I’d hoped the new Defender was going to be, rather than a Discovery in all but name. Luckily for LandRover it seems they don’t have plans to make a rhd version or export to the UK.

It's not even a competition really is it? The new Defender is an embarrassment to the name. It's so far behind the Wrangler and the Bronco in terms of off road ability that LR really should be totally ashamed of themselves.

This is a pathetic performance. Even when the new Defender gets over obstacles it just looks frustrating to drive with its artificial computer controlled movements. The Bronco and the Wrangler make it look incredibly easy because they are real off roaders.

That's discussed here: https://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&...

Basically it's set up to fail on the wrong tyres.

And on the OP's point it wouldn't be £32k. The Wrangler starts at $28k in the US, or £38k here...

I wouldn't say it was set up to fail by the tester. They are the best tyres LR offers with a 6 cylinder engine in the USA. It's supposedly an off road package.

The new Defender in its most extreme form is miles off what can be done to a Bronco or Wrangler.

Would still take a Defender.

That Bronco wouldn’t come here without being at least £35+k
