FFRR vs New Defender 110?

I'm deciding between a new Range Rover Vouge SE (big one, not sport) or a Land Rover Defender 110 (probably HSE).
The car would be used for long road trips round europe, and I'd also like to be able to take it off road. I'd like it to be very comfortable for myself and the family, but also be able to go decently off road (I've driven the green lanes in the lakes, and done some on road, some off road tracks on European road trips).
I know the new Range Rover is out in 2022 but I'd expect it's towards the end of 2022 now. The Defender obviously is brand new out. I can get about a 10% discount on a new FFRR, but nothing on a Defender.
Initially I really wanted just the Defender... but to be honest I can get a FFRR Vouge SE for the same monthly price as the Defender. So I can buy a £96k Range Rover for the same monthly price as a £70k Defender - both end up being around £1k per month.
Which would you go for?

I've driven both as recently thought about replacing my P400e RR with the new Defender.
In short, the Defender is an awesome car and I loved it. Problem is, I preferred the 90 and as a family car, it's not going to work. But the level of refinement is astonishing for a car that is supposed to be at the more utilitarian end of the Land Rover range.
The Range Rover is a fantastic car, but when you compare the two, the Defender just feels so much more up to date and modern. The infotainment is miles ahead, and assuming the new model does come out next year, the L405 RR will start to look dated quite quickly. The Defender is probably more suitable for families too. I must admit that the luxury reclining seats in the back of my RR feel a little wasted on my kids!
I will stick with my RR for a while I think, but if I were in your shoes, I'd probably get the Defender. Especially if you've got kids.

I’m on my 6th FFRR so can confirm they are very comfortable and an occasion to drive. We drove 1500 miles each way to our place in southern Spain last summer and I wouldn’t want to do it any other vehicle. We averaged 70mph and 30 Mpg, excluding stops, and it never missed a beat.
If you do proceed with a RR make sure it has Dynamic Response which shouldn’t be confused with Adaptive Dynamics. They’ve change the engine line up recently so I don’t know which models now come with Dynamic Response.

The latest two channel system is capable of controlling the front and rear axles independently, allowing it to be tuned to deliver increased low-speed agility, along with enhanced high-speed stability and greater steering precision.’’
I haven’t driven the Defender yet but find it difficult to imagine they can be refined as a RR.

We have a new Defender (wife's daily), in the past we have also had a couple of new RRSports.
The Defender is great but it is a level below an RRS in terms of refinement (I'd expect an FFRR to be half a level up again).
The seats aren't as wide, long, soft and the other interior materials and surfaces not as well finished and comforting, there is more wind and tyre noise (Google defender A-pillar rattle).
Our defender is a 110, launch edition somewhere between an S and HSE.
We plan to tour Europe in our defender, but it will be a case of enjoying the journey rather than demolishing the continental motorway distances.

I do quite fancy a FFRR, however the new one is coming out very soon. I think you can get a decent discount on an existing Vouge SE which looks to be the "sweet spot" now, however the new one was originally scheduled for launch this year.

In some ways I think a lot may depend on how you are buying them, how many of these long euro trips you plan, how much off roading and what you want to use it for the bulk of the time?The car would be used for long road trips round europe, and I'd also like to be able to take it off road. Both will do all the same off-roading, both will be comfortable for you, your family and your kit.
Ultimately, it really boils down to which one you want to smash up the most and whether you have to return it to the owner in three years time in pristine condition?
For feeling free to smash about to my hearts content without troubling myself over the state of the thing then I think I'd swerve both and buy a middle aged L405 with perfect service history and aim to consume and enjoy then put in the bin. It'll do all the same offroad stuff, be just as comfortable and you'll be free of the owner telling you what condition you need to keep it in or the decimation of your own money. And the £20k VAT saving can go in the maintenance pot.
