Hi All, recently bought a 2011 Discovery 4 SDV6 HSE - over the moon with it generally, but had a query regarding tyre pressures. Looking at the information on the driver's door jamb, for the 255/55/20 tyres that mine has it recommends something like 33 PSI front, 36 rear. I checked these and the Previous Owner had pumped them up to 46 PSI! Just wondered if there was any logic in doing this? No obvious signs of excessive central wear caused by overinflation. Annoyingly the NSF seems to have a slow puncture but appears to reach an equilibrium of 29 PSI where it seems to stop (or at least slow) leaking.

I used to run my BMWs with a bit more air in the tyres but completely new to Land Rover's so thought I would seek wisdom from those more knowledgeable than I!

I run mine at a couple of PSI above those recommended numbers, based on others experience. Not sure I could actually tell the difference though. However the car does get loaded up with people or fishing gear fairly regularly, so it seemed sensible. But 46! Blimey it must be a hard ride.

I ran my D3 a few psi above the stock figures as it had ATs on.

The general consensus on the group was 2-3 more gave a far better ride quality.

46 is beyond overkill.
