Suspension warning light is on says pull over turn off engine. Drove it home fine threw it through a few bends along ullswater lake no problem. Nothing hanging off. I'm tempted to leave it until the MOT in july as it came on when i slammed the tailgate. I'm thinking maybe just the light. probably 300 miles to MOT(2007 Range rover sport)

Turn it off and back on again. If that fixes it, great, but it suggests a sensor is starting to fail. If it's a height sensor it might decide one corner needs raising until the bag is ready to burst...

Get a code reader...

Get a proper good code reader.

Will help narrow it down massively.

GAP IID tools run off an app on your phone.
Best tool ever, and still hold their value second hand.

Can identify if it’s a height sensor or worse.

It could be a number of things but you really need to plug a code reader in to find out what's triggering it.

As for the tailgate, it's probably just the micro-switch in the the handle. The positioning of the switch means water gets in and everything corrodes but it's fairly cheap and easy to replace.

Brake light bulbs all working? They can trigger a suspension fault if blown, as can a knackered brake switch.

We had a 2009 RRS where a melted cable behind the headlight resulted in the flagging of a suspension fault.

Not uncommon, by all accounts.

Good old turn it off leave it half an hour turn it on again worked a treat. About to find out which half of the tailgate is working today. It's worse when the bottom half won't open wife only small and she can't reach in hehe

I've had both switches (top & bottom sections) fail in the past. They're very easy to replace, just be careful with the bottom one as the rubber seal can fall inside and then it's a bugger to get out!

That will work on most of the warning lights, it's like rebooting your computer.

It'll still be worth getting the fault codes read, so you know if it's something trivial (sensor having a brain fart from under use) or something more expensive such as the compressor on its way out.

Normally its the top half of the tailgate that opens when you press the landrover button on the key, now its the whole door and the top half won't open with key or manually. I will try the other key tomorrow
Where would i get a code reader and how much? cheers mate

The LR Logo is programable, which can be configured for tailgate release, panic alarm and suspension. I'm fairly sure there's another but it's all in the manual.

As for the code reader, I don't have one to recommend. I use Carly but there are others out there which will let you get right into the system and retrieve detailed information.

The best tool is this one.
Works off an app on your phone.

I bought one in 2014 for £360.
Sold it last year for £320. I made £240 on reading other land rovers for codes.

For the tailgate.
Press and hold the lock and unlock buttons on the dash together for a few seconds.
That should pop it open.
You need a new tailgate switch, can’t comment on the sports but the D3s was a Ford Focus switch so about £6 off eBay.
