He could have saved a bit of time and effort by borrowing my Sandringham 6 , well I would have donated it if he wanted it!
It has many things going for it apart from the six wheel drive and 3.5 V8. Made by Hotspur cars of Sandringham so it has the correct name it also has an electro hydraulic system which powers the crane and the tipping body. The crane have made life easier for the pallbearers although probably best not to muddle the controls with the tipper!

Unusually for an old Land Rover, the handbrake appears to very work well.

Probably one of the most famous Land Rovers now, after The Duke of Edinburgh's televised funeral..
Worth a few quid too...!

Apparently they had a second one on standby. He must have been aware of reliability issues as a life long Landy fan.

Was it electric?

I have been wandering if those deep sills are hiding something. Maybe Batteries? However, there is a massive flatbed there, so if it was electrics, they could have gone in there.

My guess is that Land Rover will end up in a Museum somewhere and I hope its the British Motor Museum or similar.

I believe it was built by Foley Vehicles, but I do wander if Land Rover own it. If they do, I hope they retain ownership.

The healthy diesel chug breaking the otherwise complete silence at Windsor Castle on Saturday would suggest not!

My parents read the DM for over 30 years. Consequently, I have spent over 30 years doubting it... biggrin
