Hi all,

We are looking for a used Range Rover, and I’m trying to work out if there was a facelift or update over these years, and if so which is the best year. I’m assuming the later the better, but I’m also interested in where the best value is. That is, if such a thing happens with a Range Rover!

I’d appreciate any comments.

Thanks

I’m also in the market and below is what I have researched or can tell. My budget is £35kish. Below is based mostly on HSE dynamic/autobiography models, as not looking at HSE or SE (I want the air suspension) and V6 diesel engine.

2016 - some tweak to engine to bump HP to just over 300bhp and minor change to heating/cooling buttons (touch operated). Otherwise same as 13-15MY models, afaik.

2017 - first major changes which is mainly the infotainment system changes to 10inch and much improved usability and more modern, you should be able to tell visually the improvement. The instrument cluster is updated to display navigation map on the speedo and other info. I believe the basic equipment is improved with lane departure warning, blind spot warning and assisted emergency braking but not 100% certain. For me this year is the pick of the bunch if your spending up to £40k.

2018 onwards featured a major full facelift. The exterior has new lights front and rear. New bodykit and wheel designs. The interior infotainment systems are again further improved with dual screens in centre console (as seen on the velar). Again these upgrades should be obvious if you view them. Entry price is around £45k plus.

Stuff I’m still uncertain on, some are listed as HSE Commandshift. I’m not sure if this is just a made up model designation, as Commandshift appears to be down to the gearbox and being able to manually flick through the gears with paddles or selector, which i’m sure all can do this. So i’d be wary if you want air suspension and see HSE Commandshift, as it may not have it unlike the HSE Dynamic and Autobiography models.

Above may not be 100% accurate, just what I have gleaned in last few days, so happy to be corrected on any points.
