2013 Evoque won't start
Discussion
Hi.
My wife has an automatic 2013 Evoque.
She went to start it yesterday the headlights flickered, the Speedo needle flickered up and down, and a 'gearbox fault' and 'steering column locked' warning was displayed, and the car wouldn't start. This morning I went out to look at it and noticed the rear red lights were illuminated. Inside none of the dash lights came on and instead there was a ticking/clicking noise from the glovebox and the hazard warning lights button flickered (but the hazard lights weren't on externally). I suspect a battery issue. Using a simple multi meter set at 20 DCV I got a reading of 0.00. I have also read about a small auxillary battery positioned near to the fuses beneath the glove box which can cause similar symptoms apparently?
TIA

Our 2016 had an identical problem. Fob locked it Friday, Sunday noticed tail lights were on dim. Fob no longer opened the car,. Used emergency key.
Car deader than a dead dog in Deadwood.
RAC came the next morning and strapped on the booster cables and it fired up.
Drove it to JLR dealer and left it with them for two days for diagnostics.
New battery fitted for £350. Not surprising, I had no idea Stop/Start batteries were such BIG fakirs.
Gone are the days of changing a battery yourself with an £85 own-label Halfords battery (unless you are a power weight lifter, handy with a fault code reader, have JLR software, and understand modern auto electrics).

I was just about to post a very similar query.
My wifes 2014 Evoque is showing a few minor issues that point towards the start of battery failure;
- Auto start stop no longer working
- intermittent errors on dash
- Dropping phone form Bluetooth etc.
Question is - do we need to change both batteries? If so anyone have any battery codes we need to buy?
How easy is it to access the smaller restart battery as I've heard it's a little hidden away?
Does anything need resetting in the ECU after a battery change in terms of charging etc? My old BMW required a re-code with a new battery to stop the car overcharging and frying the new battery.

I have now sorted it. Just bought a new battery and changed it myself, and is now working perfectly. No requirement for codes (mine is 2013 but this may have changed on layer models).
Coincidentally like the previous post, my other car is a BMW. It is an older model than the Evoque, but having removed the battery to recharge following lack of use in lockdown it will now not restart. Im assuming it will need 'recoding' from a software perspective to get it going.

Did you do the smaller battery as well?Coincidentally like the previous post, my other car is a BMW.
