I'm considering a DS HSE Luxury 2015/16/17. It appears that there was a mild enhancement to the infotainment as far as the main screen and driver's info panel are concerned.
I would be grateful if anyone can advise what the upgrade was & roughly when it came on stream.
I'm aware that JLR technology was not leading edge in this period (I'm currently in a 2013 XF) but lockdown man-maths are kicking in & I'm wondering how far I should stretch my budget for a needless change when we are allowed out again.

I have a DS 2.2 HSE Lux 2015, one of the first versions. Bought 4 years ago as an ex demo car, owned by LR, was 7,000 miles now reached 40,000 miles.

I cannot answer your question.

One plus with this particular model is that is has a Ford diesel engine straight from the Freelander. Although described as being an unsophisticated engine, it has the real plus that the DPF is in the right position, and so there are no dilution and other issues associated with this engine, unlike the LR ingenium that followed in subsequent models.

I had an HSE black - it had the wider screen and possibly some extra functions that I can't remember (it had freeview tv). No idea if that is what you're referring to? The system was okay - a bit laggy as most LR stuff is but perfectly serviceable and much better than the pre 2016 screens/software.

Thanks Nick, you have confirmed what I suspected about an upgrade. When was your car first registered?
It may mean that my man-maths figures need a little massaging because there may have been other improvements to the car as well as the screen.

We also have the 2.2 Freelander. We went for this engine over any newer audio technology, our short journeys wouldn't suit the new 2.0 engines and we couldnt stretch the the petrol.

Our 2.2 has the freelander surround sound, rear free view TV and DVD with dual screen in the front and wireless headphones setup.
Its old technology but it is ok but can get a little lagy on occasions,. But perfectly useable.

We use spotify which is perfectly acceptable for music, and I've set up the rear screens with a small Chrome cast so the boys can just share youtube/Disney+ etc to them.

Depending on your commute or usage, I would consider engines over technology.

Great cars though.

Interesting comments about the engines. The use of my daily is very mixed - perhaps more so than most. In normal times there is no commuting & general supermarket & tip runs but...two or three round trips every year in all seasons to the Jura (1500 to 2000 miles each including journeys whilst there). It seems I won't be able to win whichever option I take!
I think that the best option is to take some test drives when I am allowed. Drawn to higher spec for the panoramic roof (not a fan of dark interiors, I appreciate that the roof doesn't open) & one or two other goodies.
Very drawn to LR because my late father owned at least four Freelanders and they served him well in a variety of uses.

It was on a 16 plate, can't remember when it was registered sorry. One way to tell if it has the wider screen is the lack of buttons on each side of the screen. It also had the InControl system - not sure if pre 16 cars had that?

Update to an old thread that I started many months ago.
On Saturday I took delivery of a 2016 66 DS HSE Luxury from a Hampshire independent with just >69k miles.
HSE Luxury models are scarce at the moment & ideally I would have preferred to buy from a franchised dealer.
Mine is in Aintree Green (quite rare but in the current sunlight the metallic particles make it look special).
Still trying to establish the options because the advert included some features that it doesn't have (full sized spare) but didn't take into account the electrically deployable tow bar. It has active cruise control, the vision assist pack, traffic sign awareness. It doesn't have the wide screen display that I was hoping for & I have compromised on an Ebony interior (ideally was hoping for a lighter colour)
It also came with a good condition luggage/dog guard which I don't need (PM me if you are interested - I'm in the Bristol area).
Looking forward to getting some miles in & seeing how it acquits itself on longer journeys.

Congratulations on the purchase!

Electrically deployable type bar is a slight after option.I do love the green colour too, we test drove one and it was lovely
