Hey, the Mrs is getting a low battery warning a few seconds after shut down. We've driven it round for yonks and it's still there, everything else is functioning as it should. Strong chance its been there a few months and we just haven't noticed. Old skool mechanics tells me it's new battery time and shes been quoted over £300 for a replacement at a specialist.

Assuming this is an easy swap, but does anyone know the amp spec etc that I should be getting? Remember picking up a Mercedes Sprinter battery for my old Vantage so hoping there's a good little crossover with something cheaper that makes the right power.

I've swapped out our battery on the Discovery 4 2014 after the same issue, it finally failed to start. You can pop the reg plate in any of the sites and get the spec of battery you need eg. does it have start stop. the battery in the car will have the specs written on it too. I went with a battery from Halfords with a 5 year warranty, i swapped it out myself which was a fairly easy job. The dealer prices to do the job are a total rip off IMHO.

Some have said the BMS needs resetting to tell its got a new battery but the car will figure it out eventually and alter the charge accordingly. I haven't had any issues and everything is working fine. You may also need to swap out the smaller aux battery too as I found that was the first one to go.

A friend of mine has a business doing battery replacement. I'm told he's very competitive!

If you fill in the form he'll get back to you on Monday with a quote.

I hope this helps.

Some times a good charge using the recon setting on a ctek can keep them going longer

But if it's over 5yrs old it is probably on it's way out

You'll need a more expensive AGM battery, and it'll need coding to the car, given its a 'modern car'

The cheapest you can get is c£130 +coding

They tend to be cheaper than the usual motor factors

You definitely need a quality battery and not just something which ticks the spec boxes. Bosch are usually recommended (and what I use).
