Hi,

Long story so won’t bore you too much, always fancied a RRS and have a budget of around £40k, which seems to buy a decent low mileage car.

What sort of running costs are they in terms of scheduled maintenance? Looking at approved to get a good warranty as I aware of the pitfalls around not.

Anything to look out for when buying or things that are “must have’s” spec wise?

Thanks 👍

The face lifted version was rolled out in 2018. Main big change (worth having) is the upgraded interior and infotainment - the old system is woefully out of date in today’s age (poor resolution, very laggy).
This. When I first started looking at Approved Used I couldn't quite believe how ste the system was/is and so upped my budget and got a MY 2017 with InControl Pro. Still a bit average but a billion times better than the original system.

As for things to watch out for - everything and anything can go wrong. I've had faults with suspension, the braking system, the exhaust system (pressure control valve), spurious engine noises, squeaky seats, tailgate struts, air compressors, stuck sidesteps, warped discs. Need I go on? As for must haves, impossible to answer although most debates seem to centre on V6 vs V8. I have the V6 and despite the scare stories my crankshaft is still intact after 50k miles (I've done 35 of those).

When it works it's brilliant and I love it. When it doesn't it's a hopeless piece of st that deserves nothing more than a Viking funeral.

However worth noting you’ll struggle to get an approved used one from MY18 for £40k; maybe possible outside the approved network.
Aye, you'll not get a 2018 for 40k from a main dealer.

18 months ago I bought a 17MY Autobiography and loved it, when it worked, however it had too many issues and went back. Having tried a few cars since, I can’t get away from the RRS, they are just supremely comfortable and have a lovely driving position, unfortunately they are the same price I paid 18 months ago!!

I am only looking to approved used, as I just know issues will be there and I need the piece of mind, even though many dealers have bad reputations.

You’ll get a nice pre facelift for 40, if you look at HSE, you’re not far away from an AB, and it’s worth the stretch.

The newer models seem crazy money again.
