Life expectancy for an exhaust
Discussion
Thought my 110" was sounding bit more fruity recently (300TDi), happened to drop my keys by the rear door then noticed that the tailpipe was like lace. I can remember replacing this but not exactly when - mainly because the over-axle bend turned into lace within two years. As a result I emailed the parts factor I used to find out when I bought the current part and they told me this:
You purchased originally on 19/07/16
We reinvoiced you on 09/05/18 subject to warranty claim.
This was honoured on 16/07/18 ( Credited )
Unfortunately therefore the warranty expired on 19/07/18, two years from original invoice.
Is it reasonable to expect an exhaust tail section to last more than two and a half years?
I know that at this end of the car it doesn't get as hot and suffers from water and dirt spray...

FWIW - Short journeys compound things too.M
Never got hot enough to boil off the water produced as a byproduct of burning a gallon of petrol or diesel & rot out from the inside as a result.
If you want longevity go stainless.
The use it's put to impacts on its life, so it's a bit like 'how long is a piece of string'? Presumably it's aftermarket, in which case the only real answer is a different brand; 2-years seems to be the life of the current fitment but I suspect a genuine LR one would last longer. Having said that, you've yad 4-years use from a product with a 2-year life.
I'd recommend a full stainless system

Not cheap but will last the 110's life time. Nice guy and very good quality of work.

I bought a stainless tail system because this is the section which keeps failing. The stainless pattern part didn't fit so I returned it to the supplier and we compared it with the mild steel equivalent - they were different. The supplier ordered another stainless tail section which this time appears to be identical to the mild steel part.
Not the first time I've had problems with blue-label branded parts.

I suspect that's the root of your problem. Not for nothing are the first two letters often substituted for "Sh". I try very hard to avoid them unless it's something very minor and/or unimportant. It's a shame, the business model would, I'm sure, still stack up with improved quality and slightly higher prices.
