Hi everyone,

I have been thinking of changing car and fancy a RR sport (2014+ shape), I live in Spain where second hand cars are stupidly expensive however I often keep an eye out on the spares/repair sections and have noticed a late 2014 RR Sport SDV6.

I have looked in to these and know about the common engine fault, which this one has so it will require a new engine which to be honest I dont mind doing, in fact I would prefer to buy one with a knackered engine so I can replace/refurb it and know it 'should' be ok but my question is what options are there out there?

There is probably no point replacing the SDV6 with one exactly the same as it will have the same common fault, is there a company who will refurbish them, or other options to prevent the problem?

The car is priced accordingly, even if I have to put approx £5k in to work it will still be around 40% cheaper than buying one in working order.

Thanks

QP Online Limited.

They specialise in rebuilding the TDV6/SVD6/SDV8 engines.
Based in south of England but they get cars from all over to get rebuilt and repaired.

They will be your best bet for the engine to be repaired properly.

Interesting, I’ve not heard of them mentioned on the forums before.

How much roughly do they charge for a 3.0 sdv6 to be replaced / repaired if the crank goes?

Their Instagram page is interesting

Never had to use them myself.

An admin on one of the Disco fb pages used them for a D4 engine when his snapped its crank.
He got the car recovered from France or Spain to them to repair it.

He’s very happy with the service on it, his car led a very easy life as a convoy escort for heavy loads and it still died.

I did get a reply from them and the price for a refurbished SDV6 engine is £5000+VAT, this comes with 12 months warranty and revised bearings and block so fingers crossed would be better!

Slightly on the higher side compared to other companies but you get what you pay for IMO.

Turbos are an extra £1200+VAT if needed!
