Make sure belts and oil pump have been changed.

Otherwise, check all electrical items work.
Check handbrake works without issue.

Raise and lower suspension a few times and listen to the compressor, under rear left door.
Check the revs don’t bounce up/down at speed. That’s the torque converter on the way out.

not sure only fault i've been told about is on the other one i'm looking at and that is an airbag light that won't go off. Would that be an MOT problem in a years time?

Airbag light will likely be the wiring under the drivers seat.
Check all connectors and then get a code reader to reset it.

Worked for my D3.

At the sort of mileage you're predicting doing I'd suggest finding a Supercharged RRS instead of the diesel.

Short answer - yes, but check AJM's post above.

SRS Light would be a MOT avail.

As for the timing belts, they’re due at 115k and a fairly involved task on the 2.7. It’ll be worth flushing the gearbox oil too.

For that mileage, go for the Supercharged.

Would a 3.6 TD same age higher mileage (153000) be worth a look that would give me 3 to look at next weekend in the Bradford Halifax area
Also red brembo's and 22 inch black alloys (thinking boy racer)

The 3.6 is significantly nicer than the 2.7. It's a V8 and uses a chain rather than belts. The TDV8 came as a minimum of HSE spec, with the Brembo brakes & active rear anti-roll bar. At that mileage, it's just about run-in, just make sure it has been looked after. However, be mindful the turbos can let go on those and they're a right arse (££££) to change.

IMO - Don't put 22" rims on it... They came on 20" rims as standard but it's a noticeably nicer ride on 19".

My mate runs a garage he says I would find the tram lining with 22 inch wheels hard to live with
Thanks again for infothumbup

For 3k a year.
Get the petrol engines.

If the turbos go in the 3.6, it’s £3650 to change both.
I wouldn’t want the risk of the 3.6, I did look at L322s with them but I felt it was a ticking time bomb.

A nice 4.4 N/A, 4,2 supercharged will be ideal for you.

Just rang the bloke in the original ad, sounds like it's gone, he's taken a deposit and has 3 more customers if he backs out BUT he's sent me an ad for an 05 Vogue 4.4 with 109000 miles on it also in black for 4999

I don’t know much about Range Rovers or Land Rover in general but when I was doing heavy haulage on the cranes a few lads had them and whenever they returned home (we could be away for a few weeks/ months tbf) they always had issues. Handbrakes stuck on, car deadlocked itself, wouldn’t start, some thing electrical etc to the point were they just drove the trucks to the nearest truck stop to their house and got wife’s etc to pick them up instead and the cars ended up sat until they got a new job!

There are several other items to check rather than a stamp in the book saying 'cambelt' if you go for the 2.7

Torque Converter and gearbox
Fluctuation on the revs at motorway cruise? You can throw in some anti judder and hope for the best or maybe a gearbox flush for £250. New Torque Converter is £1200 for drive in drive out. It can screw the box as well and that's £2500 all in including the Torque Converter.

Glow Plugs
I don't know much about them on the TDV8, but they are a known trouble point on the 2.7
They have 6mm heads and snap easily. Garages are better equipped to get them out these days
Owners often fit a timer to the fuel burning heater so they don't have to pay to get the glow plugs changed.

Suspension
Many many failure points
Compressor
Valve blocks
Numerous sensors
Arms. Budget £500 for replacement
Lots of wiring can fail as they get older too

Handbrake
As AJM said. Check it works. Knock off £500 or walk away if it sounds like a mechanical scream.

Heated seats
Check they work. Parts are still available, but they heated element is a pig to change.

Turbos
Prey they don't fail.

Stereo
The HK stereo sounds great, but expensive to add Bluetooth in a way that isnt a Parrot MKi9200.

Smell exhaust in the cabin? (2.7)
Walk away. Crossover pipe is expensive to buy and not easy on the driveway to replace.

My old boss has the TDV8. I drove it a few times and it was great sounding for a diesel. One of the best sounding diesels I've heard I think. He sold it to a client who remapped it and out an exhaust on it. Sounded and went even better.

The 2.7 is a lovely engine. Super smooth and mine was reliable too.

I had a D3. Great machine (versatile and comfy)...but I just got fed up with it failing every few months. The handbrake was a real pita.
