Does anyone know if land rover are bothering to improve the keyless security on their cars?

5 that I know of have gone from my area in the last month and there are now only 2 left on our road - one of which is mine and I expect it to go any day!

If it gets stolen will definitely go to another brand until they sort it out and most people I know who have one are of the same view.

Just keep your keys in a biscuit tin.

Get one of these and they will move to an easier target.

Steering wheel lock for visual & physical deterrence, keys in an £8 Faraday pouch to prevent signal relay.

And add a Can Lock to secure the car from thieves "learning" a new key.

A few things to check...

- Do you have the Secure Tracker activated and with a valid subscription? You can check this in the Land Rover Remote app (iOS and Android version). There is an older version called InControl Remote, but the new one is much nicer to use...
- Don’t sleep with them under your pillow, but take sensible precautions to safeguard your keys. A faraday pouch is very effective against relay theft, which is a common attack method for most keyless entry systems. If you have the newer key fob (the chunky one, not the soap shaped one), then this is resistant to relay attacks. Borne out in Thatcham and other security tests
- Never leave your car unlocked...

Quickest and easiest deterrent. My FFRR has one as does my Defender (which also has a raft of other stuff). They take seconds to deploy.

Someone will be along shortly to list the video where someone cuts a Disklok off with a battery angle grinder, but in reality as Phil says they will move yours down the list of targets if you have (and use) one.

The first thing that I did with mine was to disable the keyless entry, so it should be very safe now (shouldn't it?) The latest cars prevent relay theft, I think, by disabling the key if it hasn't moved for a certain time.

This^^^ if they really want the car they will have it.
Is it just a Land Rover problem, or are they the scrote's target at the moment?

Range Rovers and other luxury cars are being stolen to order in both UK and Eastern USA - anywhere where there are local gangs with links to Africa - and shipped out to the usual suspect African nations.

Been going on for years. Probably funded by our foreign aid. rofl

Record year in USA apparently: https://www.maritime-executive.com/article/stolen-...

Fylde Police post to Facebook...

  • LAND ROVER STRIPPED - East Lancashire**
Police have been contacted by a member of the public who has had their Land Rover stripped (please note the image is just an example).
The offenders have removed the headlight and indicator cover and have then some how neutralised the vehicles alarm system - this technique is currently being investigated by Police.
The vehicles doors, seats and bonnet body panels have been removed quickly and quietly as the victim had dogs in the kennel 20m away and they have not been disturbed.
This has occured at a location within East Lancashire and offenders could travel round the county which is why we are making you aware of this. Please ensure where possible, vehicles are stored securely in garages/ outbuildings, vehicles are locked and any valuables are removed.
Any suspicious activity can be reported on 101 or if there is a crime in progress, it's 999.

That’s how my old 110 was stolen. It’s a very well known method, so can’t believe they are ‘investigating this technique’...

I've also heard of people having similar theft. Basically, one of the great features of a Defender -easy of maintenance and replacing parts - is also its downfall.
