RRS SVR vs FFRR p400e Westminster Black
Discussion
Hi,
I can lease a Range Rover Sport SVR Carbon Edition or a Range Rover P400e Hybrid Westminster Black edition for for virtually the same price.
I don’t do many miles and the fuel economy isn’t an issue.
The price of the SVR (on paper) is £125k and the Westminster Black Edition P400e is 95k, BUT the lease prices are the same.
I like the younger image of the SVR (but acknowledge the chav aspect too) but also like the more imperial, regal approach of the ‘proper’ Range Rover as well.
Purely from a monetary aspect I’m tempted to get a RRS SVR (£125k car for same money as the £95k FFRR) BUT wondered what your thoughts were?
I’ve never owned any 4x4 or Land Rover product before and would love to hear your thoughts.....
Cheers

We have an SVR which we got new last Xmas. It's all black, no bling & we absolutely love it. The fuel economy is brutal if you drive it quickly, but it's a super comfortable, very well specced & lovely car to potter around in, or for a long drive with the family and has always had more than enough space for us.
The noise is amazing from the V8 with the exhaust on, or off, so I'd definitely recommend the SVR - we're in our 40's, so hopefully too old to be chavs now!

Hi,
I took delivery of a new SVR a month ago on a lease deal, no doubt similar to the one you've been offered. I too would have preferred the FFRR but wanted the V8. If I'd have been offered a V8 FFRR I would have jumped at the chance versus the the SVR but the lease cost felt too much higher than the somewhat psychological £1k a month with no deposit.
It all depends on how much you like the V8 and how much you value the comfort. I do think the SVR rides reasonably well but it could be better and no doubt is better in the FFRR. The other disappointment for me is that you have more comfort orientated seats on the non SVR models. If you're like me and drive around the city 98% of the time the SVR seats are unnecessary.
On the upside, I too was worried about the SVR image. I think mine looks ok though with the optional 22 wheels in silver rather than black. Black everything on an SVR or RRS just looks too gangster for my taste.
One tip to note, I wanted active centred steering for the motorway and thought I would be receiving this by specifying 'Lane Keep Assistant'. You actually need to specify 'Steering assistant'. Something that's only available bundled with a whole bunch of other options that I didn't need or care to finance on a lease. This was disappointing given that distronic cruise is standard yet they deliberately make it hard to enjoy the full suite of autonomous driving functions.
Overall I'm happy though, it's a nice steer. Also it's a good thing that they've dialled the exhaust note back compared to the first generation. You can still select the sport exhaust feature if you want all the theatrics, they're just not for me.
Finally also note that the FFRR is replaced in 12 months. I think the RRS will be replaced another 12 months later.
