Thoughts on Firenze Red
Discussion
I saw a Velar in Firenze Red the other day - I thought it looked rather smart. I see plenty of Velars but they usually seem to be Corris, Black or Silver. Is there a reason why Firenze is not more popular? Wondering with JLR owners think about this as I cant work it out. Many thanks !
Red cars used to be very popular and everywhere in the 80s. Unfortunately, the colour also got a bad reputation for fading/oxidising in the sun.
IMO - It's a combination of the bad reputation from the 80s and too many people thinking about resale value, so they end up with a middle-of-the-road (read that as bland) colour.

Thank you, I wondered if it was something to do with resale, I hadn’t thought about the history of red fading in the 80s, but that’s why my Sierras were all blue
Just seems odd, all they grey ones look lovely, but just so ..... “grey”..... reminds me of the Spitting Image John Major puppet ....

Was an issue with solid reds.
Metallics/pearls/xirillics don't really suffer as the colour coat is covered with clearcoat.
Land Rover Firenze is one of those.
Main issue with reds is that they are usually 'low hiders' which means piling on the colour coat to achieve coverage of primers.

That makes sense. I was wondering if it was deemed the wrong colour by owners for some reason, but this seems sensible. It’s a shame as I think the colour looks fantastic !Metallics/pearls/xirillics don't really suffer as the colour coat is covered with clearcoat.

My new RRS is Firenze Red, and I am extremely happy with it.
I sometimes have little rants about the fact that car company configurators have a section 'Colours' which barely contain any colours at all, mainly shades. I was looking at the VW configurator a couple of years' ago, and there were actually no colours available whatsoever for one vehicle!
On Firenze Red, I seem to recall some mention of the colour being slightly more susceptible to damage from bird droppings. But life is too short to dismiss a colour you like because of a pigeon.

Looks very nice - except for the front tinted windows which makes a classy colour look like a drug dealers car. IMHO.I’ve got black wheels on my silver car and hate them, at some point I will get them painted silver.....

Tend to agree with you about the tinted glass but that's how it came from Overfinch, hence those wheels and some other stuff. My C63 has the same tinted glass, black paint and black wheels, not my choice as I bought it at a year old, now that really does look like a drug dealers motor!I’ve got black wheels on my silver car and hate them, at some point I will get them painted silver.....
