Been an age since I last posted on PH.
We have a Freelander 2 I6 full HSE kit, 1 previous owner. Had it 5 years. Normally Mrs would be getting the itch to change by now, but what with London being targeted for further diesel emissions restrictions next year, being petrol has its advantages again.
What with it sounding rather fruity, and being a bit of a sleeper, it still ticks a lot of boxes.
One niggle it does have, is an occasional hot start issue. fine when cold, but sometimes in hot weather after several short journeys, it will turn and turn over but won't catch. leave it for a few minutes , and its good to go.

done some searching in past, but nothing definitive. A Landrover forum suggested there was a hot start software update, but LR main dealer claim no knowledge of this. After searching again last week Freel2.com, there was an ongoing thread , albeit from 2014(?) that claimed it was a software update to gearbox? Ill check with LR dealer tomorrow and see if anything comes up.
Any LR experts on here, or any with an I6 with same issues?

I know it has the Volvo 3.2 6 cylinder from XC90, and can't seem to find any issues in general with the engine, so wonder if it is some ECU type issue from LR side?

I can't give any i6 specific solutions but in my experience, problems like this are often down to either a poor earth, the connection to the crank sensor or the sensor itself. A quick Google does throw up a thread on the Freel2 regarding the fuel pump but my money would be on the sensor to begin with.

Good luck.
