Closing on a new Discovery
Discussion
Hey all.
Looking for some last minute advice.
Im just about to sign up to a new Discovery and have 2 dealers competing for my business.
I think I'm at the point where I cant get it any lower, but was wondering if anyone had any hints or tips to get anything thrown in which won't hurt the dealer too much to ensure I get the best package.
Does anyone have any thoughts or ideas as to what I could push the dealer to close the deal?

You'd probably easily get 5-years free servicing, doesn't cost the dealer anything up-front, any cost can be hidden in their accounts over the next five years, by which time the sales manager will probably have moved on to selling another branded product, something like Dyson, an engineering-led aspirational brand.
If I was pulling the trigger on a Disco I'd be hoping that they'd also throw in some LR-branded wrist-candy for the full experience, again, little cost to them and most dealers have a few in their display cabinets.
I certainly wouldn't close the deal without some sort of sweetener; they'll play a game of pretending they've gone as far as they can, the dealer principal's permission will be sought but at the end of the day they have a few in UK stock which they'll be keen to move on.
I wouldn't pull the trigger without at least the 5-years servicing. And a tank of fuel. On, and some mats. And mudflaps. And the LR-branded waterproof seat covers (better for resale).
Good luck. Be sure to let us know how far you manage to grind them down.
(I hope my advice isn't too late and you've already closed the deal without the extra incentives)

Any other triggers you’d like to pull? Perhaps one on the most overused cliché ever so that we can finally bury it?If I was pulling the trigger on a Disco I'd be hoping that they'd also throw in some LR-branded wrist-candy for the full experience, again, little cost to them and most dealers have a few in their display cabinets.

Good call. Or at the very least, a free kit that allows you to centralise the rear number plate.https://www.startech.de/en/products/land-rover-dis...

It was last autumn when I got mine so pre-Covid, but other than a chunky discount I got nothing out of the dealer. I think there comes a point where the profit is next to nothing and they’re simply shifting a unit for the month. I managed about 13% discount so I’d expect near to 20% must be available now.

I still reverse park mine so I don’t have to look at the back when I return to the car! Looks great from the front though, especially with the Dynamic pack grill.
