As per the title, does anyone know whether and/or how I can install a high-pressure petrol pump into the tank of a 90 in place of the original?

The reason being, I have a 3.9i installed, which of course requires a higher-pressure fuel supply. At present I have it plumbed with the original lift pump feeding a swirl pot on the bulkhead, and a bulkhead-mounted HP pump feeding the rail from the swirl pot. The HP pump is noisy, and the system feels overly complicated for what I need. Pipes everywhere!

Looking at diesel pumps, they have multiple connections and I believe they use some sort of dual circuit which filters (and perhaps pre-pressurises?) the fuel, and I don't want to faff around trying to adapt that to fit. I have a return to the tank already, I just want an HP pump which I can drop into the existing hole in the 90 tank (under the driver's seat).

Any clues please?

TIA.

Have you mounted the HP pump on a resilient mounting?

It's on an aluminium plate (5mm I think) and then fitted to that plate using a rubber-lined clamp. I guess I could mount the ali plate using rubber bobbins, that might be worth a try. I know you have a similar setup in yours, I'm fairly sure it was you who suggested the swirl pot approach to me originally. How is yours for noise? To say the fuel pump noise is intrusive over the sound of the V8, running a 2.5" exhaust with only cats and one silencer, gives some idea of how loud it is! The pump is a generic inline one, not the cheapest available but not particularly pricey, so maybe a better pump would also help?

I was just hoping I could somehow adapt a diesel pump to drop into the top of the tank. Always fiddling and fettling, that's modified LR ownership for you!
