New Defender off road footage
Discussion
Think this is the best off road vid/comparison I've seen yet.
Note the new Defender is modified, with non factory tyres and a Johnsons Rod lift.
Also note, it has that distinctive bobbing up and down motion that has been present in most new Defender off road vids. Although I think the Johnsons Roads exasperate this somewhat.
I know why they have lifted it, they want the ground clearance, as it is long vehicle. But it does seem to be at the sacrifice of suspension flex. The air suspension seems to go almost rigid when fully extended and has no suspension droop at all. You can see this on the front wheel a lot, how it is either in the air or hardly touching the ground. Which means no traction.
I'd love to see a new Defender at the regular ride height without the Johnsons Rods tackle the same terrain. I believe the suspension would work a lot better. The new 90 has a much shorter wheelbase, and a lot better breakover angle. So shouldn't need to be as high to avoid getting hung up.
