Disco mk5 2019 tow bar

evening all, my father has a disco mk 5 2019 with the retractable electronic tow bar.

For some reason it now won't stow away, lock out or go back in.

Has anyone experienced this before and if so any advice?

My 2013 Range Rover did this, i never really used the tow bar and I found the centre bush use to size up, i could get it to fold down to a point then i need to help it - the same when we retracted it.

If its a 2019 its still with in warranty so book it in at the dealer and get them to sort it, or some WD40 and some assistance from your self will fix it.

Thank you slow hand, we managed to fix it in position after removing lots of mud from the off roading but still failing. All booked in for next week will update the problem

Having seen on Youtube one of these being repaired, it's probably the towbar gearbox that has failed.
Possibly due to being clogged up with mud externally which causes the gears to strip when activated.
Fortunately it was repairable, after a lot of dismantling a piece of broken gear was removed which allowed it to work again.

As it is not meant to be serviceable, the whole towbar unit would be replaced by a dealer.
