anyone had a tow bar fitted to a RRS P400e? the electrically deployable one isn't available, which i assume is due to the battery packs in the boot, it looks like there's a "multi height" dealer fit option available, going from the pics, its pretty hideous(and expensive!) and i'm not sure if its removable... i wouldn't be towing a caravan, just really using a Thule cycle carrier that mounts to the tow ball itself and a small 4ft trailer for tip runs etc.

I was looking at leasing a P400e but this might be a show stopper frown

I believe that the tow bar is a vertically removable one made by Westfalia which has two possible fitted heights.

thanks, i just spoke to Westfalia they couldn't confirm if the OEM kit was theirs, they are developing a bar for the P400e but its been delayed by covid and how quickly it gets manufactured depends on the popularity of the model, as far is i can tell thee Hybrids are selling like hotcakes, all the stock cars get snapped up and lease companies can't but reservations on them till you've been finance approved!

yeah thats the one, its £1600 fitted then you have to have the replacement panels painted, i'm not sure if its "detachable" either, i don't mind it looking st when the bike racks on but not the 99% of the time when it isn't! even the guy at the LR dealer wasn't sure frown

On the positive front the P400e is a great car

good to hear smile what are you getting as a combined MPG figure out of interest?

I'm trying to keep the price down, are there any options you think essential? I'm looking at HSE Dynamic, i've talked myself down to just adding the heated steering wheel, i would like privacy glass but at £20pm it seems excessive, luckily the missus wants white so that's another £20pm saved biggrin

It looks very similar to the L405 removable one - a 2” receiver (US style) - the removeable bit is big, heavy and there’s nowhere to store it, but it is removable.

just reanimating this thread, see if anyones had a tow bar fitted to their P400e recently? i spoke to Witter and they have one in development but its been delayed to to covid, LR themselves are useless despite some internet talk or removable ones being fitted... my P400e arrived last week so need to figure out a solution

i actually bought and fitted (DIY) a "Tow Trust" bar in the end, works great, i did buy the genuine LR electrics, just to avoid any warranty nonsense! I never bother having it coded as i only us it for a bike carrier and can put up with the reversing sensors triggering for the few seconds i have to do any reversing with the carrier on wink
