2014 Landrover Discovery gone into dealer for knocking noise from front over bumps. Diagnosed as lower arm bushes for which they propose to replace two lower arms. Quoted £1398 inc vat!!!! I know plenty of techs at other dealers so labour isn’t an issue, what’s the best option for parts? Any recommended places?

I did this job years ago on a Discovery 3. Can't remember exactly where I bought the arms from (John Craddock or similar) but from memory it was £300ish for the pair for aftermarket 'heavy duty'. They certainly looked the part when they arrived. I think they had a sturdier balljoint.

My usual mechanic did it for a couple of hours labour. Job jobbed for under £500 including an alignment.

Advanced factors sell the HD arms, 4 year warranty and cost £377 for a pair inc genuine bolt kits.
Couple of hours labour to fit and £80-100 for proper alignment.

Don’t waste time at dealers.
