Evoque Battery Assistance
Discussion
Hi All,
First post (from memory) to the LR forum, but am hoping you knowledgeable folk can assist.
I have a Jan 2014 Evoque 2.2 SD4 (Dyn Lux), and I've recently been getting some hassle with regards to the tailgate not working, stop/start not always being available or the audio refusing to power on etc. I also get the shutting down in x minute message quite frequently, even after a decent run. Clearly that points towards a knackered battery, which is a decent enough assumption based on it still having the original.
The question I'm hoping someone can answer, is whether or not it's the main battery I need to replace, or the smaller (Aux I think) battery which sits next to the main battery under the bonnet that needs replacing ?
The car always starts etc without any trouble, it's purely other functions that are starting to get temperamental.
If anyone could advise which battery I need to replace I would be most grateful. I've scoured online but can't seem to find a definitive answer.
Thanks all...stay safe

I have had exactly the same problems during lockdown with my 2015 DS. I bought a battery charger and after two days all was well. The warning came back 6 weeks later so a few hours on charge and is OK again.
There's a lot of good info online, especially about the tailgate being a serious drain on the battery. There's one YouTube item of several minutes where the owner shows the problem and cures it by charging...I cannot remember the link but Google should do it for you if interested,
If your Evoke has the stop/start facility, you will need to get a special charger as I did.
Like you, I think a new battery will be necessary and I'll get this all checked once the local LR MD reopens for servicing.
Good luck.

Thanks for the reply, but I probably should have mentioned that I've already been charging it on and off using a CTEK5.0, and like you have said that cures it for a short while. It's 100% one of the batteries that's knackered, but I'm just trying to find out which one, as I don't want to replace the wrong one unnecessarily. There's a lot of good info online, especially about the tailgate being a serious drain on the battery.
