Not quite a new post but a search doesnt bring up the post i think i asked ! Anyway, i read a post expaining a problem with cars that normally do short trips and then do long ones and the dreaded "message" appears. Please help as i think just over £1200 for on going problems is taking the "P", every time its a different "code" but always happens after a rare "long run".

Are you just getting the message or is the actual suspension playing up. Had huge issues with suspension, although strangely instead of going to the lowest setting as default mine always went as high as it could (and there isn't much call for wading on my usual routes!!). After getting near enough everything suspension related replaced over a six-month period (and much head scratching from LR dealer) it turned out it was a faulty relay which according to LR doesn't even relate directly to the suspension.

Hadn't heard the theory about short trips followed by rare long journey before, but interested to know more.

It starts with the eas fault and goes to mid height, then will go to 35mph max and lower to the bump stops. It can be months in beween, but always on a long run. Had new pump, both rear bags, ride height sensor and several resets with no faults. This time when the eas flashed up i disconnected everything in the box so it could not lower, then on a long run its came up with 35mph max but of course it could not lower.

EAS is the biggest money spinner LR Dealerships have. Easiest fix is to replace it at huge expense to customer!

Instead go to someone who values your money and knows a lot about RR's. I see David you are in Wilts, pop along and see Kingsley 4x4, 01420 475 303, in Kingsley, Hants. www.multimap.com/map/browse.cgi?GridE=-0.86990&GridN=51.13920&client=public&lon=-0.86990&lat=51.13920&place=Kingsley,Hampshire&db=freegaz&local=&type=&start=&limit=&overviewmap=&scale=100000&search_result=Kingsley%2CHampshire&lang=&db=freegaz

You won't be disappointed, it has been known to just be a 5p relay that requires replacement.

Wow, a late entry there but thanks for the link. Just this Friday paid £150 to have it reset to be told "no fault". A bit of a break here, when i got back from trailoring the Griff from TVR power, i could hear the pump cutting in and out all the time, hence on a long run it over heats and cuts out ! The trailor rental guy found one leak, says it has another and will do it for me.

I always find www.rangerovers.net a great source of info on the P38.

Some interesting stuff here about what can be done when the air suspension fails... www.rangerovers.net/repairdetails/airsuspension/fieldrecovery.html
